Demopolis police say a small boat began having engine trouble and was pulled over the dam and capsized.  It happened around 11:30 Tuesday morning.

A second person was also in the boat.

State troopers have identified a Walker County woman who died while boating on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway.

A trooper spokesman says 40-year-old Kimberly Delois Sergeant of Jasper was killed.

The spokesman says Sergeant was a passenger in a fishing boat when the vessel stalled. The woman jumped out of the boat to avoid drifting off the dam.

Sergeant was pronounced dead at the scene.

Demopolis is located about 100 miles west of Montgomery.
