Troy Fifth Grader Honored As Top Youth Volunteer

Ciara Laird, a 5th grader at New Life Christian Academy has been selected as of Alabama’s Top Youth Volunteers of 2016.

Ciara started a food drive for the hungry in her community, along with helping her school. She will receive $1,000 from the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. She plans to donate part of that money and says she wants to encourage her classmates to help others.

“I’d like to help them to continue to grow too so they can volunteer. They can help me volunteer to help people too,” says Ciara.

As a state honoree Ciara was also awarded a trip to Washington D.C to be recognized. While in Washington D.C which will be in May, 10 honorees will be named America’s top youth volunteers of the year.
