AUM softball keeps atop NAIA Coaches’ Top 25 poll
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (aumathletics.com) —– The Auburn-Montgomery softball retains the No. 1 ranking in the first regular-season NAIA Softball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the national office released Tuesday afternoon.
The back-to-back national champions collected 14-of-18 first-place votes and a total of 495 points in the poll.
Starting the season with a 25-2 (3-1 SSAC) record, the Warhawks have wins over Southern States Athletic Conference Opponents No. 6 Mobile and No. 9 William Carey. AUM had its 23-game win streak snappedTuesday afternoon, when the team split a double header with William Carey. Mobile and William Carey joined AUM in the top 10 with Faulkner (58) and Martin Methodist (22) both receiving votes.
The Warhawks have defeated three other teams named in the top 25 including No. 5 Campbellsville, No. 18 Reinhardt and No. 20 Freed-Hardeman for a total of seven wins against ranked opponents.
