Tuskegee’s Finch named co-SIAC Pitcher of the Week

ATLANTA, GA  (goldentigersports.com) —  The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference named the Pitcher and Player of the Week in softball Wednesday morning, and Tuskegee University freshman Kaylin Finch was named the co-Pitcher of the Week by the office.

Finch finished the week with a 3-0 record and a save, including throwing a perfect game against Clark Atlanta in the SIAC Crossover. The freshman finished with three complete games, facing 11 batters over the minimum for the week. Finch finished with 21 innings pitched, allowing just six runs (four earned) off of eight hits. She also struck out 16 batters. Finch faced the minimum in her perfect game against Clark Atlanta, striking out two and forcing eight ground ball outs. She threw a complete game three-hitter in a 7-2 victory over Benedict, allowing just two runs (one earned) and striking out seven hitters. After her perfect game, she came on for a save against Albany State, going two innings of scoreless relief and allowing just one hit. She finished the Crossover with a complete game four-hitter against Claflin with five strikeouts.

She shared the honor with Spring Hill College pitcher Danielle Clark, who also threw a no-hitter against Lane during the SIAC Crossover.

Tuskegee (8-20, 8-1 SIAC) plays host to West Georgia this afternoon at 1 pm in a doubleheader.
