State Superintendent Dr. Tommy Bice stopped in Troy Thursday, for a virtual tour of the Pike County School System’s educational academies.
The school has five academies, all of which Dr. Bice says he is thoroughly impressed with. The STEM Academy is the school system’s newest academy for 5th – 8th graders. It focuses on science, technology, engineering, and math. Students say they are grateful for the opportunity that teaches all about team work.
“It helps me cooperate with other people and it helps open my mind,” says Kristine Head of Banks Elementary School.
Administrators say they are hoping to add a 9th grade transition course for their STEM Academy soon.
