Auburn’s Jade Rhodes SEC’s softball player of the week

AUBURN, Ala. (auburntigers.com) – Auburn’s Jade Rhodes has been named SEC Player of the Week the league office announced Monday afternoon.

The senior from Sarasota, Fla. batted .625 on 5-of-8 hitting during the Tigers’ 4-0 week that included a SEC series sweep over South Carolina. The SEC’s leader in homeruns (11) hit long balls in three-straight games before taking walks in all three plate appearances in the South Carolina series finale.

Rhodes also contributed a pair of RBIs in the first three games of the week and has hit a home run in six of the last eight games she’s played. She’s second on the team with 14 multiple RBI games this season.

This is the first SEC Weekly award for Rhodes and the third Player of the Week honor for an Auburn player this year. Kasey Cooper was named SEC Player of the Week in back-to-back weeks Feb. 29 and March 7.
