Man Charged in Tallapoosa Co. Shooting

On Sunday March 27, at approximately 12:30 am, the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department was notified of a shooting which reportedly occurred on Hayes Mill Road in Tallapoosa County. Upon the arrival of Deputies and Investigators with the Tallapoosa County Sheriff’s Department, it was determined that three individuals had been transported to Tallassee Hospital for treatment.

Further investigation identified the shooting suspect as Jody Wayne Gann,26, of Notasulga, AL. This investigation revealed that the suspect and the victims were traveling in separate vehicles on Hayes Mill Road, and at some point both vehicles came to a stop on the dirt portion of Hayes Mill Road. At this time, the suspect exited his vehicle and fired several rounds from a rifle in the direction of the victims’ vehicle. The shots struck the vehicle several times.

Three of the individuals sustained injuries which required medical attention. They were later released.

As a result of the investigation Jody Wayne Gann was arrested and has been charged with four (4) counts of Attempted Murder and one (1) county of Shooting into an Occupied Vehicle.

Gann’s bond has been set at $175,000.00.
