Eagles blow past Talladega’s Tornadoes 11-2
TALLADEGA, Ala. (faulknerathletics.com) – Faulkner pounded out 15 hits and scored all of its runs in the first four innings en route to an 11-2 victory Talladega here Tuesday afternoon.
The third-ranked Eagles improved to 29-6 with the victory, while the Tornadoes dropped to 14-13.
Nick Cain had a home run, two hits and three RBIs, while Dennis Morton, Deivy Palmeiro and David Palenzuela all had three hits apiece. Morton added a pair of RBIs, with Alexis Cruz contributing two hits and two runs batted in. Dario Polanco also drove in two runs. Three Faulkner pitchers – Marco Blanchard, Kurt Lipscomb and Preston Szuch – combined to hold Talladega to just seven hits over nine innings. Lipscomb, who pitched five innings of three-hit middle relief, earned his first victory of the season. The right-hander struck out eight Tornado hitters.
Faulkner travels to West Point, Ga., Wednesday to battle Point. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.
