50 years ago today, one of the biggest wars in American History began, the Vietnam War. People across America are remembering veterans who fought, and who also paid the ultimate sacrifice.
Montgomery also did its part to simply say, “thank you”.
Vietnam veterans from across central Alabama came to remember their fallen comrades and the start of the Vietnam War.
For Vets, they hope the 50th commemoration will also inspire the next generation to contribute to the country they sacrificed so much for.
Nine million Americans served during the Vietnam War. About seven million of them that served are still living.
