Headlight Ratings for Some Alabama-Made Cars: Poor.
Ratings come from Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is out with ratings for car headlights, and only one of the cars tested got a “good” rating. That was the Toyota Prius V.
Several cars assembled in Alabama were on the “poor” list: The Montgomery assembled Hyundai Sonata and The Mercedes C and CLA. Most of the tested cars rated the same…”poor”.
It is the first time the organization has rated headlights for safety.
They write:
The best available headlights on 11 cars earn an acceptable rating, while nine only reach a marginal rating. Ten of the vehicles can’t be purchased with anything other than poor-rated headlights.
A vehicle’s price tag is no guarantee of decent headlights. Many of the poor-rated headlights belong to luxury vehicles.
