Thanks to a public safety foundation by Firehouse Subs, two volunteer fire departments in Pike County can now get the job done a little easier.

The Spring Hill and Banks Volunteer Fire Departments were awarded more than $21,000 worth of equipment Wednesday. They say it alleviates their financial strain. The equipment is made possible through donations for first responders and public safety organizations. A new skid unit was awarded to Banks and a gas meter and thermal imaging camera was awarded to Spring Hill’s Department.

“You can detect where the fire is in the ceiling and pull that area of the ceiling away and get to the fire or if you have trapped people in the house it picks up the heat of that person and find them and hopefully you know get them out of harms way,” says Fire Chief, Jeff Helms of the Spring Hill Volunteer Fire Department.
