AU’s Shearer 8th in decathlon, Heilsnis 5th in hammer throw at Texas Relays
AUSTIN, Texas (auburntigers.com) —Auburn senior decathlete Parker Shearer posted a solid season-opening performance, finishing eighth in the decathlon at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays with 6908 points.
The Mobile, Ala., native posted a personal best in the 100m with a time of 11.47 and neared personal bests several other events during the two-day competition.
Junior Brianna Heilsnis finished fifth in the women’s hammer throw against a very strong field. Heilsnis third throw of 58.06m/190-6 was her best mark of the day and a season’s best.
Auburn will have four more competitors participating in the Texas Relays on Saturday. Senior All-Americans Rachel Dincoff (discus/shot put), Jessie Johnson (pole vault), and Valentina Muzaric (shot put) and freshman Ivana Muzaric (discus) will all be in action.
