AUM softball loses top spot in NAIA Top 25 poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (aumathletics.com)—- The Auburn-Montgomery softball team fell one spot to No. 2 in the third regular-season NAIA Softball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, the national office released Tuesday afternoon.

Oklahoma City (36-1) collected 13-of-19 first-place votes and a total of 524 points in the poll. AUM collected the remaining six, and fell to second with a total of 517 points.

On the season, the Warhawks have posted a 34-3 (10-2 SSAC) record. AUM has won a total of eight games this season against ranked opponents, with three of those wins being against teams named in the top ten. The recent poll marked the 44th straight time the Warhawks were ranked in the top 25 poll.

Also representing the Southern States Athletic Conference were No. 7 William Carey, who moved up one spot from last week, No. 13 Martin Methodist, who were only receiving votes in last week’s poll, and No. 17 Mobile, who fell ten spots from the previous week. The SSAC leads all leagues with four schools represented.

The Warhawks will continue SSAC play this Friday, April 8, as they host Middle Georgia State College for a double header beginning at 2 p.m.
