Lady Golden Tigers draw Clark-Atlanta in SIAC Tennis Championships

ATLANTA, GA  (goldentigersports.com) —  The Tuskegee University women’s tennis team will begin action Friday morning at 8 am (est) at the SIAC Tennis Championships, held at the Clayton County International Tennis Complex in Jonesboro, Georgia.

Tuskegee (13-5, 12-1 SIAC) earned the second seed in the tournament and will face third-seeded Clark Atlanta (10-11, 10-5) in the opening match of the tournament. The two teams faced each other twice the season with Tuskegee winning both matches, including a 6-0 match on February 25.

Tuskegee, who had six players named All-Conference in either singles or doubles, is in the midst of an 11-match winning streak in conference play with their last loss coming back on February 25.

The Lady Golden Tigers will send Reicia North (4-6, 4-2 SIAC) out at number two singles, while SIAC Freshman of the Year Monica Thomas (7-4, 7-1 SIAC) will play number two singles. Navilla Paul (9-1, 6-0 SIAC), who did not lose match until facing the BYU-Hawai’i – the top team in the nation – will play at number three singles, whiel Kayla Triche (6-4, 5-1 SIAC) will play at number.

Rounding out the singles competition for Tuskegee are Kimberly Bowen (8-3, 8-0 SIAC) at number five, and Taylor Wilson (7-4, 6-1 SIAC) at number six.

North and Thomas (12-5) will play at number one doubles, while Paul and Bowen (10-7) will play at number two. The team of Wilson and Triche (11-5) will play at number three doubles.
