AU’s Men’s Tennis edged At South Carolina

COLUMBIA, SC (auburntigers.com) – No. 62 South Carolina edged No. 59 Auburn 4-3 in men’s tennis Friday at the Carolina Tennis Center in Columbia.
In singles, Max Hinnisdaels defeated Andrew Schaefer on court two. Hinnisdaels won his first set 6-4 and took a second-set tiebreaker 7-3 to win the second set and match 7-6. Dante Saleh won a three-set contest on court four over Alex Fennell 6-4, 1-6, 6-4. Brandon Laubser won a third-set tiebreaker 7-3 to take his match on court five 1-6, 7-5, 7-6 over Thomas Mayronne just after the overall match was clinched by South Carolina.

In doubles, on court three, Dante Saleh and Conner Huertas del Pino picked up a 6-4 victory over Thomas Mayronne and Andrew Schaefer, but the Gamecocks captured the overall doubles point.

Auburn is now 11-11 and ranked No. 59 nationally as a team. No. 62 South Carolina is 11-12 overall and 3-6 in the SEC.
The Tigers travel to No. 7 Georgia (15-3, 9-0 SEC) Sunday. Action begins at noon Central against the Bulldogs at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex in Athens.
