Convicted Murderer Found Dead in Atmore Prison
State inmate William Randall Triplett, 45, was found dead of an apparent suicide at the William C. Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore, Ala. on Thursday.
At 11:10 a.m., two corrections officers found the inmate hanging from a bedsheet in a one-person cell inside the prison’s segregation unit. The inmate was unresponsive and a corrections physician pronounced him deceased 11:35 a.m.
Triplett was convicted of capital murder in 2003 and sentenced to life without parole for killing his father, Billy Triplett, and stepmother, Debbie Triplett, during the course of a robbery in Clay County in 2001.
Triplett’s death remains under investigation.
