Former First Lady Laura Bush Speaks at Auburn University

IMG_6957The Women’s Philanthropy Board Spring Symposium and Luncheon at Auburn University will feature a survivor and a former first lady.

Laura Bush, wife of the 43rd president of the United States, George W. Bush, was the keynote speaker at the luncheon at today.

She is a leading voice for spreading freedom and promoting human rights around the world. As chair of the Woman’s Initiative at the George W. Bush Institute, she continues her work on global health care innovations, empowering women in emerging democracies, education reform and supporting those who have served in America’s military.

She spoke to a crowd of hundreds about her time in the White House. Mrs. Bush was joined by a survivor of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, who shared his inspirational story.
Event organizers say they hope the former First Lady’s contribution to society through philanthropy will inspire others.

Event organizers also say this was the biggest turnout in the events history, and plans are already underway for next years event.
