Biscuits win home opener 7-2 over Braves

MONTGOMERY, Ala (AlabamaNews.Net) — After losing three of their first four road games of the season in Jackson, Tennessee over the weekend, the Biscuits opened their 2016 home schedule with a 7-2 win over the Mississippi Braves Tuesday night at Montgomery’s Riverwalk Stadium.

Biscuits starting pitcher Chih-Wei Hu went four scoreless innings, scattering 5 hits and 8 strikeouts before giving way to a trio of relievers. Jarred Mortensen got his first win of the season, hurling 2 scoreless innings while garnering 3 strikeouts.

Second baseman Jake Hager was the offensive star for the Biscuits, going 3 for 4 at the plate with 2 doubles; a triple and a game high 4 RBI’s.

Braves starting pitcher Lucas Sims got tagged with the loss, his second of the young season for Mississippi, Atlanta’s Southern League Double A affiliate.

The win draws the Biscuits to 2-3, with a chance to get the equalizer Wednesday in a business person’s special that is set to get under way at 10:35 am.
