I-65 Southbound Shut Down Due to Overturned Tanker Truck

Troopers are investigating a single commercial vehicle crash on Interstate 65 (southbound) near the 118 mile marker that occurred shortly after 6 A.M. today, April 12.

The vehicle is overturned in the southbound lane of Interstate 65 with leaking fuel.

The Alabama Department of Transportation has been notified to aid in setting up a detour from Exit 128 to Exit 114 for southbound traffic.

The driver of the commercial vehicle has been treated for minor injuries. Drivers are urged to find alternate routes as the interstate is closed from exit 128 to exit 114 for southbound traffic at this time.

Motorists travelling south, even as far north as Montgomery, are encouraged to use these alternate routes: Alabama Highway 97, Alabama Highway 185, and US Highway 31.
