Samford wins 13-3, snapping Hornets’ 7 game win streak

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (bamastatesports.com)  – The Alabama State baseball team lost at Samford 13-3 Tuesday night at Joe Lee Griffin Field, ending the Hornets seven-game winning streak.

Carlos Ocasio had all three RBI for the Hornets (23-13), two coming on a two-run homer to left field, his 11th of the season.

The Bulldogs (19-14) broke open a 2-0 game after three innings with a five-run fourth inning and four-run fifth inning.

Ocasio homered for the second time in three games, as the long ball scored Diandre Amion, who walked to lead off the inning.

Ocasio grounded into a fielder’s choice in the seventh, scoring Gustavo Rios who singled and moved to third on a single by Amion.

Dillon Cooper had two hits for the Hornets, who return to action next Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Auburn.
