Steve Harvey to Speak at ASU’s Spring Commencement

ASU STEVEHARVEYAlabama State University is excited to announce that Steve Harvey, nationally acclaimed star of television, radio and film, will give the keynote address at its upcoming 293rd Spring Commencement Exercises, which will be held at the ASU Dunn-Oliver Acadome on Saturday, May 7, at 10 a.m.
“We are very excited to have a speaker of Mr. Harvey’s prominence to give the keynote address at our Spring Commencement,” said President Gwendolyn E. Boyd. “Given the diversity and significance of his accomplishments, we are confident that Mr. Harvey’s remarks will be of great benefit to our graduating class.”
The commencement address is a continuation of the association that Harvey recently announced between himself and the University when he joined ASU President, Dr. Gwendolyn E. Boyd,  and Board of Trustees Chairman Locy Baker on April 2 at The ASU Stadium to announce that he is partnering with Alabama State University to sponsor its annual Turkey Day Classic football game.
“I’m bringing Hollywood to Montgomery,” said Harvey, when he recently visited the campus.

“I want to thank Chairman Baker and Dr. Boyd for believing in the vision that I had,” said Harvey. “What I decided to do was put my machine behind (the Turkey Day Classic) and bring a little Hollywood to Alabama, especially for our young people because they are our future. We are going to do some special things.”The commencement address is the first of those “special things,” which Harvey spoke of during his news conference last week at the University, said ASU officials.
