Suspect Arrested in Wind Creek Casino Shooting
A suspect has been arrested and charged in connection with a shooting that occurred Saturday, April 9, and resulted in one man being hospitalized.
Joseph Terry Grubbs, age 52, 403 Turkey Creek Road, Mathews, AL, was arrested April 10 at approximately 9:30 pm. He turned himself into the Tribal Police office in Wetumpka, and is now in the Elmore County Jail. Grubbs was charged with First Degree Assault and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
The shooting occurred on the 5th floor of the parking deck at Wind Creek Wetumpka in the early morning hours Saturday. Initial information indicates that the victim and the shooter knew each other. The victim was reportedly shot while in a vehicle. The victim and his companions fled the scene and drove to an area hospital for immediate treatment. The victim was later medivacked to another hospital, and was last known to be in stable condition.
Poarch Creek Tribal Police say the incident was in an isolated part of the parking garage and at no time was the security of other patrons put in jeopardy.
The shooting remains under investigation, and Tribal, city and county law enforcement will investigate and prosecute this and any wrong doing to the fullest extent of the law.
