Lady Hornets’ Golf APR recognized by NCAA

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (bamastatesports.com)  – The Alabama State women’s golf team earned public recognition from the NCAA for its stellar Academic Progress Rate (APR).

The Lady Hornets earned a perfect APR score of 1000 for the third straight year. The Academic Progress Rate (APR) is based on the school’s overall student-athlete eligibility, and graduation and retention rates in the each program.

ASU women’s golf has earned the score over the 2012-13, 2013-14, and 2014-15 academic years. Additionally, the Lady Hornets won the SWAC Championship in each of those seasons.

“Congratulations to our women’s golf program in earning a perfect APR score for the third consecutive year,” Alabama State Athletic Director Melvin Hines said. “Under the direction of head coach Dr. Gary Grandison and staff, the young ladies have exemplified the definition of student-athlete, with high achievement in the classroom and in competition.”
