Vandy women netters top Auburn 4-3
NASHVILLE, TN (auburntigers.com) – No. 12 Auburn women’s tennis (20-6, 8-4 SEC) dropped a heartbreaker on the road to reigning national champions No. 6 Vanderbilt, 4-3.
Auburn women’s tennis jumped out to an early lead after taking the doubles point. Andie Dikosavljevic and Alannah Griffin got things started, beating Frances Altick and Astra Sharma, 6-2.
No. 17 Pleun Burgmans and Alizee Michaud clinched the doubles point for the Tigers, defeating No. 11 Courtney Colton and Sydney Campbell, 6-3.
No. 38 Michaud handed No. 21 Frances Altick of Vanderbilt her first loss of the dual-match season, winning 6-4, 6-4 on court two. Michaud improves to 19-4 (7-3 SEC) on the season.
No. 26 Dikosavljevic tied the match at 3-3 for Auburn, defeating No. 19 Sydney Campbell 7-6, 6-2. She has now won four straight matches for the Tigers.
After forcing the third set, Griffin fell 7-6, 4-6, 6-4 to Courtney Colton of Vanderbilt.
The Tigers will wrap up the regular season against No. 20 Kentucky on Sunday in Lexington. The match will begin at 10 a.m. CT.
