Alabama State University hosted the tenth annual Robert and Jean Graetz symposium, named for two civil rights activists that 60 years later are still continuing their crusade towards equality.
They took a strong stance supporting the bus boycott efforts enduring death threats, even bombings at their house along the way. This symposium in their name aims to share the stories of Southern White Allies just like them.
Robert Gratez, Civil Rights Activist said, “I guess the one thing that would stand out is from the very beginning of the modern Civil Rights movement, one of the strongest emphasis was on love and nonviolence. And putting into practice relationships that would open up possibilities that would go far into the future.”
There were more than ten speakers at the free event.
