Hornets ready to wrap Spring with Saturday’s Black & Gold game

MONTGOMERY, Ala (bamastatesports.com) – The Alabama State football team will head into its final weekend of spring practice with the team’s ninth practice Friday, April 22 at 4:30 p.m. and the Black and Gold Spring game scheduled for Saturday, April 23 at 11 a.m.

The coaching staff spent Thursday evening picking the teams for Saturday’s scrimmage.  The gates will open at 10:30 a.m. for all ASU family and fans to begin making their way into the ASU Stadium for all of the action.

The game will be fan-friendly as several fans will be participating in a punt, pass and kick contest that will be held in between each quarter.  There will be two divisions for the contest.  One division will be for women ages 16 and above, while the other division will be for children ages 10-14.

The game will feature four 12-minute quarters with a running clock and each team will host two guest coaches.  The guest coaches for the Black team are Crystal Jackson, Director of Operations and Event Management and Brenda Robinson, Gourmet Services Operation Manager.

The guest coaches for the Gold team will be Dr. Terri Hackett, Student Ombudsman and Vanessa Dickens, ASU Alumni President.

The Black and Gold Game is the first part of athletic events all ASU fans are encouraged to attend.  The top-ranked and undefeated ASU Softball Lady Hornets are hosting Mississippi Valley State following the Black and Gold Game.  It will be a double-header with the first game set to begin at 2 p.m.
