Woman at Birthday Party Shot and Injured in Selma

From the West Alabama Newsroom– Selma Police need help to find the person who shot a woman at a birthday party.

Selma Police Sgt. Evelyn Ghant says the shooting happened on the 1600 block of Hayden Street at around 10 o’clock Saturday night.

She says officers arrived on the scene and found a woman lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound in the stomach.

Ghant says the victim told officers that she was outside with another person from the party — when someone started shooting so they ducked and ran for cover.

“She didn’t know that she was shot until she ran in the house and that’s when people was telling her that she had blood on the side of her clothes and that’s when she realized she was shot,” said Ghant.

Ghant says the victim has now been released from the hospital.
