Foye, Finch foil Stillman as Tuskegee advances in SIAC Softball Championships

HAMPTON, Ga. (goldentigersports.com) — After a grueling nine-plus innings, Karisa Foye singled home Kaylin Finch with the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Tuskegee University a 3-2 victory over Stillman College on day two of the SIAC Championships at the Lovejoy Regional Park Friday afternoon.

Tuskegee (22-29) had their chances to win in the seventh and ninth innings with the bases loaded, however, they were could push a run across forcing the game to the 10th frame.

The Lady Golden Tigers took the lead in the fourth inning when Kaylin Finch took the eighth pitch of her at-bat and doubled to left center, scoring Sharde Thomas for the 1-0 lead. The lead was extended to 2-0 when Kenyah Smith doubled down the left field line, scoring Finch.

Stillman scored a pair of runs in the sixth inning to tie the game and send it to extra innings.

Sharde Thomas led the Lady Golden Tigers at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 on the afternoon. Foye also went 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Kenyah Smith went 2-for-5 on the day. Roneshia Rudolph and Haley Plato each picked up a pair of hits in the win for Tuskegee.

Foye (5-5) not only knocked in the winning run, but she also did the job on the mound going the distance. She allowed just two runs off of four hits, while striking out 11 in the victory.

Tuskegee faces Miles College Friday afternoon at 5:00 (est), with the winner advancing to the championship series on Saturday.
