Pike County Business Owners Concerned Following Legislative Session
Small business week kicks off in Pike County with leaders recognizing contributions to the local economy.
Some business owners are questioning the impact lawmakers will have this year on the small business community. The session is officially over but their are concerns. Business owners say there should be more options for entrepreneurs that are getting started. They say small businesses are the backbone of the community, which is a big source for job creation.
“When it comes to the legislative process small business owners are our own representative.  When it comes to picking economic winners and losers with economic subsidies, they often times favor the businesses,” says  Dr. Daniel J. Smith, Associate Director of the Troy University Johnson Center.
A training for beginners will be held Wednesday May 11th from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm at the Pike County Economic Development Center in Troy. There will also be seminar for businesses on Monday, May 9th from 9 am until 10 am at the Pike County Economic Development Center.
