A town hall meeting was held in Tuskegee.
Mayor Johnny Ford, owner Milton McGregor, and other officials met with the community to discuss the re-opening of Victoryland.
“We plan to fight for it and stand up for it. Our message to the Attorney General and anyone who tries to shut it down, they are going to have to march over us first,” said Ford.
They say they are on track for opening the casino this summer.
Citizens also got a chance to voice their concerns.
McGregor says he will make sure the proper equipment is in place.
“We aren’t going to reopen til everything is tested and certified and the sheriff and the DA are 100 percent satisfied that everything is in compliance with the constutional amendment,” said McGregor.
McGregor also wanted to dispel any rumors the community may have heard. He says there was not a computer crash. They did not lose any Victoryland applications.
The Supreme Court ruled against Victoryland last month, but despite that, McGregor says he still plans to re-open.
