Biscuits unveil first annual Autism & Disability Friendly Night
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (biscuitsbaseball.com)- The Montgomery Biscuits will host Autism & Disability Friendly Night supporting Easter Seals Central Alabama on Sunday, June 5 at Riverwalk Stadium when the Biscuits take on the Biloxi Shuckers at 5:35 p.m.
The first annual Autism & Disability Friendly Night will provide an evening of fun for everyone.
“The Biscuits are excited to be partnering with Easter Seals Central Alabama and bringing this event to Riverwalk Stadium for the first time,” Scott Trible, Biscuits General Manager, said.
To accommodate families in attendance, the game will include transition warnings, easy accessibility throughout the stadium and accommodations to assist fans with mobility challenges. Families will be provided a detailed schedule to help keep track of the game and its events. Impromptu sound effects, over stimulating video board graphics and mascot interactions will be limited to provide a more autism friendly experience. There will also be an open area away from the crowd available for fans to step away if needed.
Fans will also be able to participate in Kids Run the Bases presented by Coca Cola following the conclusion of the game. Accommodations will be provided for those needing special assistance to access field level.
“We are proud to partner with the Montgomery Biscuits to bring the community a baseball came that EVERYONE can enjoy! We encourage any adult or child living with any disability, along with their families and the community, to come have fun with us at this highly-accessible game,” Varina Mead, Easter Seals Central Alabama Marketing Director, said.
The Easter Seals Central Alabama will also host a medical supply drive during the game to benefit their Community Assisting the Re-use of Equipment (CARE) Project. They will be collecting any kind of medical equipment for adults and children. Items most needed include wheel chairs, walkers and shower chairs in any condition. The items are cleaned, sanitized, repaired and given to a person who needs the equipment, but cannot afford it, at no cost to them.
