ASU’s Core earns Capital One Cup Impact Performance of the Week vote
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (bamastatesports.com) — The votes have been tallied and Sports Nation has spoken.
Kendall Core was named as making the Capital One Cup Impact Performance of the Week.
Core was one of four nominees across different sports landscapes.
Other nominees included Missouri baseball pitcher Reggie McClain, Brown men’s lacrosse player Dylan Molloy and Longwood softball pitcher Sydney Gay.
Core snuck past McClain by receiving 34 percent of the vote while McClain was a close second with 33 percent of the vote. Molloy was third with 18 percent and Gay was fourth, picking up 15 percent of the votes.
The Alabama State junior third baseman batted 3-for-5 with two home runs and four RBI in helping the Lady Hornets defeat Texas Southern 18-8 this past Saturday at Shea Brothers Softball Complex in Irondale to earn an automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history.
For her efforts, Core was named both to the All-Tournament Team and the SWAC Tournament’s MVP.
