Auburn legend Tommy Lorino passes away

PANAMA CITY, Fla. (AlabamaNews.Net) Monday afternoon, Auburn University announced the passing of former legendary football player Tommy Lorino.

Lorino is said to have died Sunday at his Panama City home, a cause of death has yet to be revealed by the university.

Lorino was an integral part of Auburn’s first national championship winning team in 1957, as a running back, punter and defensive back.

He played three seasons of football at Auburn, leading the Tigers in rushing all three years. In 1956, he averaged a nation-best 8.44 yards per carry and in 1958, was instrumental in Auburn’s unbeaten season.

He also played baseball on Auburn’s 1958 championship squad.
