Effort Underway to Bring Homeless Shelter to Selma
From the West Alabama Newsroom–
An effort is underway in the city of Selma to try and bring a homeless shelter to the area.
Mayor George Evans is leading the effort to put a team in place to start working to create a homeless shelter.
The proposed shelter would serve Selma and the surrounding area.
“We sort of ignore the need and overlook it a lot of times but it is something that we’ve talked about for years,” said Evans.
An organizational meeting was held Tuesday morning to discuss the needs, the stake holders, and the resources that’ll be necessary to fund the shelter project.
The next meeting to discuss the homeless shelter will be June 21st at Tabernacle Baptist Church at 6 PM.
