MLB All-Star Set to Make Rehab Start for the Biscuits

MONTGOMERY, Ala.(biscuitsbaseball.com)- Tampa Bay Rays Closer, Brad Boxberger, is set to rehab in Montgomery for the upcoming Memorial Day series the Rays announced today.
Boxberger led the American League in 2015 with 41 saves and was named to the 2015 American League All-Star Team. Boxberger is currently rehabbing from a core muscle surgery in mid-March and has made 4 rehab starts prior to joining the Biscuits between A+ Charlotte and AAA Durham, striking out 6 and giving up 2 runs in 3.2 IP. Boxberger is expected to pitch Wednesday night and possibly one other appearance during the series. This is the first Major League rehab assignment for the Biscuits since Drew Smyly joined the team on April 19, 2015 while playing in Jacksonville. This will be the first Major League rehab assignment to play for the Biscuits at Riverwalk Stadium since Melvin Upton Jr. (then BJ) joined the team in April of 2012.
The Biscuits open a 5-game home stand against the Jackson Generals, AA affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. It’s anotherWednesday Food Fest with Burger Fest!
