Troy Businesses Notice Change in Customer Traffic During Summer
Troy University students play a big role in local spending in the city of Troy but once they are away for the summer some business owners say they are effected.
“It depends on the year, time of the year…July kind of decreases because everybody is going out of town but we stay pretty busy all year long,” says Jennifer Brooks of Brooks Salon.
Some business owners have different experiences.
“All businesses are effected when you take six thousand students out of the town at one time,” says Mike Long of Mama Goldbergs.
He says the change in customer traffic changes pushes them to change their routine and offer specials to keep their flow of traffic going.
“In the summer time we change our hours from 9 o’clock at night until 8 o’clock because of the drop in business,” says Long.
