Lady Hornets’ bowling inks trio

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (bamastatesports.com) – Every since the start of the Andrew Chatmon era, Alabama State’s bowling team has gone to new heights as he continues to add top notch recruits to the squad.

This season plans to be even more exciting with the recruits of Allison Sledge, Gabrielle Hosein and Miranda Remmel, in hopefully winning a championship.

Sledge, a Memphis, Tenn. native, is a graduate of Power Center Academy. She was the first individual sport finalist in the history of the school to average a 194 pin fall count during the regular season to place her 10th in the state. She finished 27th at the state tournament.

Gabrielle Hosein, a native of Lake Mary, Fla., will bring four years as a varsity player experience to the Lady Hornets. The Lyman High School graduate started league bowling at the age of five. In her sophomore year of high school, she was selected as the team co-captain and was the team captain her junior and senior year. As a freshman, she assisted the team in defeating the district champions win streak.

In her freshman year, she was a first team All Central Florida selection, and a first team All-Conference member all four of her high school years.

A graduate of Merritt Island High School in Merritt Island, Fla. Remmel assisted her team to four successful seasons as a Mustang. Her team went undefeated during the 2012 season and placed second in the district in 2013. In 2014 the team defeated their rival school for first place in the district, but came up short for the state title against the same team placing them in second in the FHSAA State Tournament.

Miranda has been bowling since the age of five. She’s a four-year varsity letterman. As a senior, she placed eighth as an individual to help her team claim the title of Cape Coast Conference Champions, She averaged a 193 pin fall count, placing her 21st as an individual during the FHSAA State Tournament.
