He was born on this date in 1808.
The 11:00 AM event is free and open to the public. Birthday cake will be served.
The Confederate capital was located in Montgomery for only a few months. It was relocated to Richmond for the duration of the Civil War.
The official state holiday is on Monday, June 6. Most state offices will be closed.
