Fans Salute Hank Williams
Thousands of people visited Georgiana during the weekend to salute Hank Williams.
Several bands took the stage for the annual Hank Williams Festival, including Mickey Gilley and Jett Williams, the daughter of Hank Williams. The festival attracts visitors from across the south. Coordinators say it’s a big tourism attraction for Georgiana. People attending say there are several reasons why they keep coming back to enjoy the festival and the Hank Williams museum every year.
“Well, the people like country music-basic country music, the old country music. It’s different from the new country music,” says Brenda Kirby.
Coordinators say the Hank Williams museum brings in hundreds of people year round that are interested in learning more about the icon.
