Craigslist Killing Capital Murder Trial Set to Get Underway in Selma

A Selma man is set to go to trial for capital murder in the 2012 shooting death of a Clanton man that authorities say he met on craigslist.
Carl Brown of Selma is facing life without parole or the death penalty when he goes on trial next week.
Brown is charged in the shooting death of 47 year old Julius Burnett of Clanton.
Dallas County District Attorney Michael Jackson says the two men met over the internet then agreed to meet up in person over the New Year’s holiday back in 2012.
“This defendant met this victim on craigslist,” said Jackson. “They communicated with each other. The victim came down from Birmingham and he ended up getting killed.”
Jackson said jury selection for the trial begins Monday and the the trial is expected to last about a week.
