Taking Extra Precautions to Prevent Summer Crime

As temperatures are on the rise this summer, it unfortunately could mean crime is too. That’s why Troy Police are urging residents to take extra precautions.

Police say to always lock you doors, install extra lighting around your homes and keep track of your valuables by writing down serial numbers. They believe renters insurance is also a good investment to help in recovering items lost. For vehicles, it’s important to never leave anything in plain sight to give criminals and opportunity.

“When they leave town if they will let us know when they’re leaving and when they’re going to return, we’ll put on extra patrol and we’ll patrol your residence multiple times a day and throughout the night,” says Troy Chief of Police, Randall Barr.

If you would like to request extra patrol at your home from Troy Police, contact the department at 566-0500.
