Tallassee PD Release Vehicle of Interest in Tallassee Mill Fire
The Tallassee Police Department has released still photos and video of a vehicle that they are calling a Vehicle of Interest regarding the massive blaze that destroyed the historic mill in Tallassee on May 4, 2016. Video was gathered from surrounding businesses.
Tallassee Police Chief Jimmy Rodgers says the fire began around 11 p.m. at 1 Lower Tuskegee Road in Tallassee, Alabama. The structure was vacant with no running electricity.
The mill was owned by Mount Vernon Pine LLC. They are offering a $5,000.00 Cash Reward through CrimeStoppers for any information that leads to an arrest regarding the fire if it is determined that arson was the cause, advised CrimeStoppers Director Tony Garrett.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is also offering an up to $2,500.00 Reward upon arrests and conviction of any person(s) involved.
Video and still shots indicate a dark colored vehicle, possible unknown make/model SUV. The vehicle’s hood has a different paint color than the body of the vehicle. Investigators advise that this vehicle may have been occupied by two male individuals on the night of the fire.
