Local Reaction to “The Daily Show” Poking Fun at Alabama
"Take Alabama... also known as 'liberal Mississippi.' They are in a bit of a meltdown," said The Daily Show Host Noah.
With
our own weekend anchor Josh Ninke making an appearance, host Trevor Noah didn’t hold back when it came to poking fun at Alabama politicians.
Some people we talked to didn’t like it.
“I don’t think it is a good thing… This is my home… I’m an Alabamian,” said James Stallings.
Rose Haigler agreed. “Whatever the governor do, that is his business… He can account for that. So they just need to leave us alone and let it go.”
While others tell us to lighten up…and laugh it off.
“I’ve run across a lot of people down here that need to be made fun of… hahaha. I think people take comedy to personally,” said Stephen Phillips.
Erica Matthews agreed. “Keep making a joke out of it. We’re gonna laugh with ya! Hahah!! So yeah, just laughing and talking about it. But the main thing we need to do is come out and voice your opinion with a vote because if you don’t, hey, they are gonna keep laughing!”
