Pike County’s Sales Tax Revenue Increases
Pike County officials are seeing an increase in sales tax revenue.
The county’s current sales tax revenue is 4. 8 percent above last year. Officials say retail is a big reason for the increase and they are hoping to add more retail near the construction of Publix. County officials believe people traveling through Troy along highway 231 are big contributors.
“We’re located on a major 4 lane route to the beaches. We have a lot of tourists that come through our area that contribute to our sales tax.”
County officials say they expect to see a bigger increase in sales tax revenue next year when Publix is complete.
