Municipal Court Judge Joseph Fitzpatrick Arrested After Failure to Appear in Court
The mayor of Union Springs is searching for answers after Municipal Court Judge Joseph Fitzpatric was arrested last week for failure to appear in court.
Fitzpatrick failed to appear in federal court twice. Once last month and the second time, last week. U.S Marshals escorted him out of city hall last week. Union Springs Mayor Saint Thomas, says Fitzpatrick has missed court before in Union Springs. After meeting with Fitzpatrick Thursday on missing federal court, Fitzpatrick told Thomas he was unaware of emails to appear in federal court.
“Based on what he said, I don’t believe he has done anything illegal, intentionally, I don’t believe that,” says Thomas.
Mayor Saint Thomas says he plans to present the issue to council members Tuesday.
