Selma Youth Group Project Helps Seniors Beat the Heat

A youth project in Selma is helping some of the city’s elderly residents beat the heat this summer.

Scorching temperatures can make for a miserable summer for people in Alabama — especially those without air conditioning.

That’s why a youth group in Selma is handing out box fans to elderly residents on fixed incomes.

The program has been going on for about ten years.

Daniel Mingo says he’s thankful for the group and what they’re doing.

“I believe I’ll be outside just like he say under a shade tree somewhere, trying to keep cool, somewhere just trying to keep cool,” said Mingo.
