Delegates Get Ready to Nominate Trump at RNC
The Republican National Convention is just around the corner. What can we expect?
Alabama delegates are getting ready to head to Cleveland as the Republican National Convention begins next week.
Perry Hooper, Jr is the Trump Campaign Chairman for Alabama. He has been going to the RNC ever since Ronald Reagan was running for President. He and 46 other delegates will be going to nominate Trump.
As for rumors of the Republican party being split or voting for another candidate, Hooper says he doesn’t believe any of it will happen.
“There are some minority groups out there saying ‘dump Trump’ or ‘never Trump’.. But I’ll steal a line from my daddy who is up there with Jesus. He’d say ‘Son, those people are like dogs barking across the street when you turn in your driveway. They will annoy you but they want do anything. I think at the end of the day, at this convention, everybody is going to be joined at the hip. Everybody is going to be out there working for Trump; everybody will be on the Trump train,” said Hooper.
As for a Vice President pick, Hooper says he isn’t sure who Trump will choose, but he would like to see Alabama U.S. Senator Jeff Sessions on the ticket. The Democratic convention will follow the Republican convention in Philadelphia.
