More Black Bear Sightings Across the Region
A neighborhood has been on high alert after a black bear was spotted behind a house last week in Dadeville. This comes after many other bear sightings in the region in recent weeks.
Candis Birchfield shared videos and pictures of the bear in her backyard in the Indian Shores neighborhood last week. She and her daughter were inside when the bear appeared.
Neighbors say it is so scary to have a bear so close to their homes.
“I kind of watch when I go outside,” said resident Dee Walker, “at night especially, but we don’t go on the patio anymore at night.”
Ben Montgomery with the Alabama Department of Conservation says residents fears can be eased as he believes the bear has moved out of the neighborhood as of this weekend.
“As of Sunday,” he explained, “he was seen swimming in the lake back towards Elmore County.”
Neighbors say they are relieved to hear that.
