Blue Wahoos bite Biscuits 3-1

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (biscuitsbaseball.com) – The Biscuits bid at winning five in a row for the first time all season fell short for the fourth-straight time on Wednesday night, as Montgomery fell to Pensacola by a score of 3-1.

Chih-Wei Hu (3-7) took the mound for the Biscuits for the 18th time this season and threw a quality start, allowing just three runs in six innings with three strikeouts, but as has been a trend for much of this season, the Biscuits bats failed to provide the Taiwanese right hander with much run support, and are now averaging under 3.5 runs a game per Hu start.

The Blue Wahoos would get on the board first thanks to a two-out Zach Vincej RBI-triple that brought home Brandon Dixon in the fourth. An inning later, Pensacola was at it again, with Phillip Ervin coming through with another two-out hit, this one a two-run single that plated Chad Wallach and Beau Amaral to make it 3-0 Wahoos.

The Biscuits would finally get to Pensacola starter Rookie Davis (9-3) in the sixth when Pat Blair crushed his first home run at the Double-A level over the left field wall to make it a 3-1 game. But the Blue Wahoos three-headed bullpen monster of Abel De Los Santos, Carlos Gonzalez, Alejandro Chacin kept the Biscuits scoreless the rest of the way and went on to the 3-1 victory.

The Biscuits will try to get back on track on Thursday when Brent Honeywell (1-0) toes the rubber against Jackson Stephens (6-9) at 7:05 PM.
