Biscuits hook Blue Wahoos 4-1

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (biscuitsbaseball.com) – The Biscuits won for the fifth time in six tries on Thursday night, defeating the visiting Pensacola Blue Wahoos by a score of 4-1 at Riverwalk Stadium.

The Biscuits would strike first in the game with an RBI-single by Jake Bauers in the bottom of the first inning. Brent Honeywall was on the hill for Montgomery, and was terrific through five innings striking out six, and allowing just one unearned run on a passed ball in the second inning.

The game would remain tied at one until the seventh inning, when the Biscuits finally cracked Pensacola starter Jackson Stephens with a bunt RBI-single by Braxton Lee that brought home catcher Armando Araiza who was making his Double-A debut. Kean Wong would follow suit with an RBI-single into left field in the subsequent at-bat to score Pat Blair to make it 3-1.

The Biscuits would add one more in the eighth on a throwing error by Pensacola pitcher Jake Ehret, and the combination of Adam Kolarek, Kyle Winkler, and Jaye Chapman set down 10 Blue Wahoos in a row to end the game, with Chapman earning his first save as a member of the Biscuits.

Montgomery will aim to win the series on Friday night when Chris Kirsch (5-4) takes on Sal Romano (3-10) at 7:05 PM at Riverwalk.
